Caroline Ottmann appointed to Energy Efficiency Council Board 07 May 2021

Latest appointment of senior energy leader sees Council Board achieves gender parity

The Energy Efficiency Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Caroline Ottmann to the Council’s Board.

Caroline is Director of Strategy, Innovation and Corporate Affairs at Schneider Electric. Caroline has been appointed following the departure of Paul Lang, who recently took a position with Victoria’s Department of Land, Water, Environment and Planning.

Caroline brings over ten years of international experience across technology and energy industries in a series of consulting, strategy, commercial and transformation roles. She is passionate about the energy transition and leads Schneider’s Pacific sustainability commitments and new energy landscape strategy, covering key topics including energy management, energy efficiency, safety, digital, sustainability and cybersecurity.

With Caroline’s appointment, the Council has achieved gender parity on its Board for the first time. Caroline joins a diverse group of senior energy leaders including including Vice President Dr Mary Stewart, CEO of Energetics, Company Secretary Merrily Hunter, Managing Director of MAC Energy Efficiency Group, and Treasurer John Huggart, CEO of Energy Action.

Council President Professor Tony Arnel thanked Paul for his service to the Board, and congratulated Caroline on her appointment.

“I’m delighted to welcome Caroline to the Board. She is a passionate industry leader, and her expertise will be invaluable in our work to place smart energy management at the heart of our energy system.”

“I am also pleased to note that Caroline’s appointment has seen us reach an important milestone, with 50% of Board positions held by women. It is a great outcome, and reflects the huge contribution female leaders are making to Australia’s energy transition.”

Ms. Ottmann said she was excited by the opportunity to join the Council’s Board.

“Whether you are talking about decarbonising the home, cities and industries, driving efficiency or a more reliable energy system, energy management is a key solution for many of Australia’s challenges.”

“The Energy Efficiency Council plays a crucial role championing Australia’s energy management opportunity, and I’m looking forward to contributing to this important work.”
