John Huggart appointed to EEC Board 03 May 2019

Today the Energy Efficiency Council (EEC) has announced the appointment of John Huggart to the Council’s Board.

John Huggart is the CEO of Energy Action. He has a strong background in energy gained with retailers and new technology start-ups. His industry roles have spanned sales, marketing, strategy, service and operations, and business unit profit and loss accountability, including leading engineering services and project teams.

John’s appointment fills the casual vacancy created by the resignation of Ivan Slavich from his role as CEO of Energy Action. John will serve the remainder of the term, which will conclude at the end of the next AGM in November 2019.

EEC President Prof Tony Arnel thanks Ivan Slavich for his service, and congratulates John on his appointment.

“I’m delighted to welcome John to the EEC Board. He has a strong track record in driving strategic change, and his commercial and technical acumen will be an asset for the Council in its mission to work with businesses and government to improve affordability, boost reliability and increase cost-effectiveness of energy.”

EEC CEO Luke Menzel says that John’s appointment comes at a significant time as the Council celebrates its tenth anniversary and looks ahead to the coming decades.

“The Council’s task is clear: we need to ensure that the 2020s is the decade in which Australia embraces sensible, cost effective demand side solutions. We look forward to working with John to achieve this.”

The Rules of Association, under section 23.1.3, allow the Council’s Board to appoint a member of the Council to fill a casual vacancy until the conclusion of the next Annual General Meeting (AGM). By convention, a casual vacancy has been offered to another representative of the member company, as in this instance.
