NSW clean technology commercialisation grants open 20 April 2022

As part of its Net Zero strategy, the New South Wales Government has released a grants program to assist NSW-based businesses (or those willing to relocate to NSW) with commercialisation of clean technology that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Grants of $250,000 - $5 million will be available for pilot and demonstration projects, scaling production or marketing, professional commercialisation advice or engaging key executive staff.

Applications are strongly encouraged in priority areas of electrification and energy systems, land and primary industries, and power fuels including hydrogen. Eligible innovations will have a technology readiness level of 6-9, and a commercial readiness level less than 5. Eligible applicants will have a turnover of less than $20 million in the last three financial years, although a private or publicly funded research organisation can submit an expression of interest through its commercialisation or technology transfer office, and be prepared establish a separate entity to commercialise the clean technology (such as a spin-out) prior to submitting a full application.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 3 June 2022. Selected applicants will then be invited to make a full application for the grant later this year. Information about the grants is available here, including the grant guidelines. The Clean Technology Innovation team can be contacted at NetZeroIndustry@environment.nsw.gov.au.
