Australia to reach CMVP milestone 20 February 2015
Measurement and verification is a critical component of energy efficiency projects, as it allows customers to verify that promised energy savings have been achieved. CMVPs work with energy efficiency providers and energy users nationwide to deliver high quality, internationally-recognised measurement and verification, increasing confidence in the efficiency market.
The Energy Efficiency Council is the EVO’s only Australian partner accredited to deliver the CMVP training program and professional exams. Registrations opened recently for the next round of training to be held in Sydney and Melbourne in April 2015.
This round of training will see Australia's 150th CMVP or CMVP-IT certified. The EEC's Acting CEO, Luke Menzel, said "Introducing a robust process for training and certifying Australian measurement and verification professionals is having a significant impact on the local energy efficiency market. Customers now have a straightforward way to identify individuals with the skills and expertise to verify the success of efficiency initiatives. This increases transparency, and gives customers the confidence to move forward with comprehensive efficiency projects"
He added "We're proud of the leadership role the Council has played in growing the number of CMVPs and CMVP-ITs in Australia, and the very positive response we've seen to CMVPs in the market.”
The Energy Efficiency Council has secured highly respected international trainer Steve Kromer to deliver the next round of CMVP training and certification in Australia. Based in the US, Steve is an energy efficiency consultant, focusing on energy savings verification and energy efficiency data management systems. He is a former Chairman and current Treasurer of the Efficiency Valuation Organisation (EVO). He is also a founding member of the Certified M&V Professional (CMVP) committee. Mr. Kromer has held positions as a senior engineer at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and as a director at Enron Energy Services.
