Media release: EEC welcomes new opportunities to work with Australian Government to boost energy performance 31 July 2024
The Energy Efficiency Council welcomes Josh Wilson MP as Australia’s new Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy, taking on the important portfolio of energy efficiency as part of his responsibilities.
For the past two years, the EEC has worked closely and collaboratively with Senator Jenny McAllister to advance Australia’s energy efficiency, electrification and demand management policies, including on the design of the $1 billion Household Energy Upgrades Fund, the National Energy Performance Strategy, and within the Government’s Energy Performance Advisory Group.
We extend our congratulations to Senator McAllister for her new role as Minister for Cities and Emergency Management.
“On behalf of the energy management community, I would like to thank Assistant Minister McAllister for continuing to push Australia’s energy efficiency, electrification and decarbonisation agendas forward,” said EEC Chief Executive Officer Luke Menzel.
“The EEC and our members have hugely valued Assistant Minister McAllister’s inclusive, collaborative and deeply informed approach to engaging on energy management in Australia, and look forward to continuing our crucial work with the Member for Fremantle, Josh Wilson MP as he steps into this important role.”
The EEC also welcomes the Hon Andrew Giles MP as Minister for Skills and Training, and thanks outgoing Minister Brendan O’Connor for his outstanding work over many years.
In 2023, Minister O’Connor launched the EEC and Clean Energy Council’s Career’s for Net Zero campaign, and we look forward to continuing the vital work of ensuring Australia has the right mix of skills and people to take advantage of the opportunities in our energy transition.
